Fifteen years of charter fishing led to innovative design
After more than fifteen years operating Nomad Sportfishing Adventures in the remote NE Coast of Australia, founder Damon Olsen and the Nomad Design team crafted a range of unique lures for the toughest predators. Targeting giant trevally, thousand pound black marlin, and huge dogtooth tuna in the Coral Sea, they found gaps in the market and products simply not up to the job. Not willing to settle, Damon put his engineering background to work, developing lures that would perform perfectly for the most demanding bluewater predators.

The first four lure models - Madscad, Riptide, Chug Norris, and Maverick - went through a rigorous three year design and testing process. Nomad lures are engineered specifically for saltwater fishing, with
reinforced bodies, tuned weighting, and hardware designed to handle
aggressive strikes and high drag pressure. They are built to track
consistently, even at speed or in rough water, making them reliable
for offshore and inshore applications.
Start by matching lure size and action to the baitfish in your area.
For pelagic species like tuna and kingfish, high-speed trolling
lures and stickbaits excel. For reef edges and structure, casting
and subsurface lures allow better control and depth management.
Most Nomad lures are designed to swim correctly straight out of the
box. If a lure ever tracks slightly off, minor adjustments to the
tow point can fine-tune its action. Always test beside the boat
before committing to a long troll.
A medium-heavy to heavy rod, quality braid, and an
abrasion-resistant leader matched to local structure works best.
Smooth drag settings help maintain lure action while providing
enough pressure to control powerful fish.
Most Nomad trolling lures perform best between 6–9 knots, depending
on model and conditions. Some designs are built for higher speeds,
