Whats the life span of this detector ?
Question by: Jim on 18/08/2021, 4:17 pm
Average life span is 5-7 years, this is dependant of course on the environment it is mounted in.

The detector should be permantly wired to the 12V supply - would not recommend using a cigarett lighter connection.

Answer The Question

Thanks for the earlier answer however must say the wiring instuctions in the manual for this detector are non existent.
There are 4 terminals but no advice on how to connect up, also needs to be switched as only needs to be on when the caravan is in use.
Your help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Question by: Roger Penrose on 6/05/2022, 1:45 pm
There should be a multi language instruction and installation manual in the box. Wiring is as per the wiring picture. P1 and P2 are for + and -. As this unit has free polarity + and - can go either way. It is designed to be permanently wired as a gas leak could occur whether the caravan is in use or not.

Answer The Question

Hi were is the best place to install this detector next to the gas bottle ,the middle of the gas line or next to gas stove fridge etc ??? Thanks
Question by: Kevin Murphy on 29/07/2022, 1:02 pm
If your RV has not had an LPG alarm previously fitted, select a location close to your main gas appliances (e.g. stove, water heater, 3 way fridge) which may be potential sources of a gas leak. It needs to be close to the floor and preferably not in a position where it might be accidentally kicked. Don't mount too close to a door. This may dilute the concentration of gas and thereby delay or ignore a potential warning alarm signal.

Answer The Question

I purchased a Carbest Gas Detector (code36464) from your Nelson branch a couple of weeks ago
I set out to install it in my caravan this morning. All went well until I got to the final wiring
I cannot find any detail on which terminal is+Ve and which is -ve
The sig1 and sig2 terminals are marked so I presume p1 and p2 will be the same?
Can you please confirm
Many thanks, Grant Hannam
Question by: Grant Hannam on 17/05/2021, 12:30 pm
P1 and P2 are the DC input and free polarity - ie can be wired either way.
