The Rapala X-Rap needs no introduction, the action is so good it triggers strikes from fish big or small.
It's the perfect size and three-dimensional shape of a minnow and can be fished with a wide variety or rods, from ultra-light 1-3kg through to 5-8kg rated rods.
These can be cast or trolled, if casting, use small twitch retrieves to get the most action out of the X-Rap.
If trolling, go slow at 1-3 knots, they prefer calm conditions, however, if there is some wind chop, consider using lead line to keep your line angle low and have the lure swimming deeper in the water column.
